Snowflake is 9-1 against Show Low since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lobos will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 2:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Snowflake didn't have quite enough to beat Payson and fell 7-6.
Snowflake got a massive performance out of Brooklynn Lovingood, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kashlynn Cantrell, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Show Low and Chinle had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over the Wildcats on Thursday. Considering the Cougars have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Riley Heuett, who fired off four home runs, nine RBI, and five runs while going 5-for-5. Those four home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addi Clark, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Show Low always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chinle only posted an OBP of .143.
Show Low pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Snowflake, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Snowflake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Show Low struggles in that department as they've averaged .482. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Snowflake got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Show Low by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
