That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Alonso hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strawberry Crest struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sumner, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past East Bay 9-2 on Tuesday. That looming 9-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stingrays yet this season.
Like Alonso, Sumner also got a great game from a two-way player: Aliyanis Stubbs. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. With that strong performance, Stubbs is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she stole this season.
In other batting news, Karlee Salisbury and Victoria Rudolph did most of the damage at the plate: Salisbury went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Rudolph got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple was Salisbury's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Alonso's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sumner, their record now sits at 3-1.
Alonso came up short against Sumner in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Alonso avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
