Basketball Game Preview: Omaha Northwest Huskies vs. Omaha North Vikings

Omaha Northwest is 1-9 against Omaha North since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Omaha Northwest Huskies will face off against the Omaha North Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Omaha Northwest is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were outmatched by Benson and fell 85-44. The Huskies were down 67-37 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Omaha Northwest's defeat came about despite a quality game from DaWayne Kearney, who posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave Kearney a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Bonner, who scored seven points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Omaha North ended up a good deal behind Lincoln North Star on Friday and lost 75-61. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Navigators are ranked 14th).

Omaha Northwest will have to contain Jerri'On Williams as he made an impact in Omaha North's last game. He went 9 for 13 en route to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 36.1% of Omaha North's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Ban Yor was another key player, putting up 15 points and six boards.

Omaha Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Omaha North, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Omaha Northwest was dealt a bruising 74-34 defeat at the hands of Omaha North in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Omaha Northwest was down 39-19.
