West Jessamine is 1-9 against the Titans since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The West Jessamine Colts will head out on the road to square off against the Mercer County Titans at 7:30 p.m. West Jessamine is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
West Jessamine can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Somerset with a sharp 73-47 victory. Given West Jessamine's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Briar Jumpers are ranked 185th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mercer County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anderson County.
Mercer County might have lost, but man, Ak Drakeford was a machine: she scored 32 points along with six assists and three steals. Drakeford is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last 17 games she's played. Izzie Carlton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
West Jessamine pushed their record up to 16-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Mercer County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
West Jessamine didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Titans in their previous meeting last Friday, but they still walked away with a 75-70 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Jessamine since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
