Le Roy and the Blue Devils are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Le Roy Oatkan Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Geneseo Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Le Roy is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Le Roy lost to the Braves at home by a decisive 61-46 margin. While losing is never fun, Le Roy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Braves are ranked 31st).
The losing side was boosted by Merritt Holly Jr., who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 45.7% of Le Roy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jake Higgins was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Geneseo pushed their score all the way to 66 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Warsaw by a score of 69-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), Geneseo still had to take the loss.
Le Roy's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3. As for Geneseo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Le Roy strolled past the Blue Devils in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 70-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Le Roy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
