South Pointe is 10-0 against York since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Pointe Stallions will head out on the road to square off against the York Cougars at 7:45 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for South Pointe and 13 for York.
Last Friday, South Pointe was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to Indian Land. While losing is never fun, South Pointe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Indian Land is ranked 19th).
Meanwhile, York was beaten by Lancaster 63-23 on Tuesday. York was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.
York's defeat came about despite a quality game from Bryson Steele, who scored seven points.
South Pointe dropped their record down to 8-16 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for York, their loss dropped their record down to 5-17.
Everything came up roses for South Pointe against York in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 68-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Pointe since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
