It was a good run, but the Victory Baptist Academy Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 51-38 to Northern Virginia HomeSchool. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Victory Baptist Academy has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Victory Baptist Academy saw an underclassman step up: Landon Cormican scored 19 points. Cormican scored a full 50% of Victory Baptist Academy's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isaac Conaway was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Northern Virginia HomeSchool can attribute much of their success to Gabe Drown, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Drown scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Joshua/Khase Anderson, who scored six points.
Victory Baptist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Northern Virginia HomeSchool, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1-1.
Victory Baptist Academy will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern Virginia HomeSchool, they will take on Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
