Summit is 8-2 against Page since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Summit Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Page Patriots at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Summit 3.9, Page 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Summit proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Ravenwood. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since April 16, 2024.
Addison Johnson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lakyn Canada, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paityn Robertson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Summit hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ravenwood struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Page, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Brentwood 5-4. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
MacKenzie Smith was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Olivia Braden was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Summit has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Page's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Summit skirted past Page 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will Summit repeat their success, or does Page have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
