Hamilton Southeastern and Pendleton Heights are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Royals will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Arabians at 5:30 p.m. Hamilton Southeastern's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Pendleton Heights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hamilton Southeastern is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Fishers, who was ranked 17th at the time (Hamilton Southeastern was ranked 20th). The Royals never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Tuesday. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Grace Swedarsky, who gave up just two hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep Fishers off the board. Swedarsky has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Chloe Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Makena Burlingame was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Hamilton Southeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pendleton Heights suffered their closest defeat since April 14th on Thursday. They fell just short of Noblesville by a score of 7-5.
Aubrey Fox was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avry Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Hamilton Southeastern's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Pendleton Heights, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Pendleton Heights' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Hamilton Southeastern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pendleton Heights, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Hamilton Southeastern keep running through batters, or will the Arabians buck the trend?
