Steinbrenner has gone a perfect 5-0 against Strawberry Crest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Not much got past Lilly Patton, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Alonso off the board. Patton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Steinbrenner saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Kindle, who went 3-for-4 with one double. That's the most hits Kindle has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Strawberry Crest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sickles with a sharp 20-14 win. The Chargers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Katelyn Watts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Watts was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Strawberry Crest got a massive performance out of Kennedy Shea, who scored four runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Lola Coole was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Steinbrenner's record is now 10-4. As for Strawberry Crest, their record is now 4-6.
Strawberry Crest's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Steinbrenner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Strawberry Crest, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Steinbrenner keep running through batters, or will Strawberry Crest buck the trend?
Steinbrenner was able to grind out a solid victory over Strawberry Crest when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Steinbrenner since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
