The Caney Creek Panthers came into Wednesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They slipped by New Caney 35-34 on Wednesday. The win was just what Caney Creek needed coming off of a 55-29 loss in their prior contest.
Caney Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Yeiry Zamudio led the charge by scoring 14 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Madelin Bastidas-jara, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Caney Creek's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-23. As for New Caney, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-23 record this season.
