The Vero Beach Indians came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 56-44 victory over Merritt Island Christian.
Vero Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davionne Stinson led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds. Stinson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamya Riggins, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Vero Beach's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Merritt Island Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-5.
Vero Beach will head out on the road to take on Okeechobee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will square off against Altamonte Christian at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
