Bluffton is on a 15-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while James Island is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Bluffton Bobcats will take on the James Island Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Bluffton didn't have too much trouble with Hilton Head Island at home as they won 56-37. Given Bluffton's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Hilton Head Island is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tacoya Heyward continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ja'laina Mosley, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, James Island earned a 41-33 win over West Ashley last Friday.
Andrea Duncan was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of James Island's points. Madisyn Smith was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Bluffton's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for James Island, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Bluffton hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.7 points per game. It's a different story for James Island, though, as they've been averaging only 49.1 points per game. The only thing between Bluffton and another offensive beatdown is James Island. Will they be able to keep them contained?
