The Homer Knights suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 63-38 walloping at the hands of Kingsley-Pierson. While losing is never fun, Homer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 205th in Nebraska, while Kingsley-Pierson is ranked 96th in Iowa).
Despite the loss, Homer saw an underclassman step up: Lilly Harris scored 17 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Hightree, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Homer struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Homer has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Kingsley-Pierson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Homer will face off against Osmond/Randolph at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Osmond/Randolph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday. Kingsley-Pierson will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northwest Webster at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th.
