Caston is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oregon-Davis Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Oregon-Davis took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Caston, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Caston made easy work of Lewis Cass and carried off a 14-4 victory.
Hadlie Coffing made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Coffing was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexie Field, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Alex Mersch was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Caston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis Cass only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Oregon-Davis unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Triton on Monday, falling 19-7.
Oregon-Davis got a massive performance out of Kynlee Orr, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Thompson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Caston got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Oregon-Davis by a conclusive 24-3 score. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
