Perry has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Alva Goldbugs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry will be strutting in after a victory while Alva will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Perry beat Chisholm 12-8.
Whelan Carson was the offensive standout of the contest as he picked up 190 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jaxson Cunningham also helped out by tossing the rock for 251 yards.
Meanwhile, Alva suffered a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of Oklahoma Christian on Friday.
Cambell Gaisford put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 135 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes. Gaisford was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Kimberlin, who picked up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Perry now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Alva, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Perry barely slipped by Alva when the teams last played back in November of 2022, winning 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
