Baseball Recap: Tishomingo County Has No Trouble Against Belmont

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Union, Tishomingo County was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Belmont Cardinals with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jevan McDuffy was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Tishomingo County let Jacob Hall and Beau Crum run wild. Hall scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Crum scored a run while going 1-for-3. Hall is becoming a predictor of Tishomingo County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Trey Williams, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Tishomingo County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belmont only posted a batting average of .174.

Tishomingo County moved to 14-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Belmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Tishomingo County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-7 win against Water Valley on the 12th. As for Belmont, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-9 loss against Falkner on the 12th.
