Stoneman Douglas is 0-10 against the Bucks since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will square off against the Deerfield Beach Bucks at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stoneman Douglas has three straight victories, the Bucks have 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Stoneman Douglas beat the Trojans 57-45. The win was all the more spectacular given Stoneman Douglas' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Trojans are ranked 146th).
Ethan Schwartzman was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ayden Mclean, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Deerfield Beach came up short against the Cowboys on Friday and fell 60-51. That's two games in a row now that Deerfield Beach has lost by exactly nine points.
Stoneman Douglas' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13. As for Deerfield Beach, they dropped their record down to 4-18 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home.
Stoneman Douglas couldn't quite finish off the Bucks when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 42-40. Can Stoneman Douglas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
