The Red Cloud Warriors lost against the Deshler Dragons back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Red Cloud took a 40-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deshler. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Red Cloud in their matchups with Deshler: they've now lost six in a row.
Red Cloud's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adelynn Minnick, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Brown, who scored eight points.
Red Cloud's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Deshler, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Cloud will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Kenesaw at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Kenesaw is ranked 189th, while Red Cloud is ranked 167th). As for Deshler, they will head out on the road to square off against Giltner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Giltner is coming into the contest with seven straight victories at home, meaning Deshler will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
