The Holmes County Blue Devils suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 64-44 defeat at the hands of Graceville. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Holmes County in their matchups with Graceville: they've now lost six in a row.
Savannah Goodman and Emma Whitaker certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Goodman scored 17 points, while Whitaker scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson McGowan, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Holmes County's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Graceville, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holmes County will square off against Geneva at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Graceville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Malone at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Malone will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Graceville is ranked 59th).
