The Skaneateles Lakers are taking a road trip to challenge the Cortland Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Skaneateles sitting on three straight victories and Cortland on five.
Skaneateles is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Palmyra-Macedon on Saturday as they made off with an 11-4 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Declan Pfau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Pfau was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Hugh Carroll was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Skaneateles is undefeated when Carroll posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Crane, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Skaneateles kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Cortland owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Homer.
Like Skaneateles, Cortland also got a great game from a two-way player: Cal Albright. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Albright has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Cortland's record is now 6-1. As for Skaneateles, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Skaneateles came out on top in a nail-biter against Cortland in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 10-9. Do the Lakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
