Freedom is 0-3 against Osbourn Park since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Freedom Eagles will get right back to it and host the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Freedom scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hylton 61-20 on the road. With Freedom ahead 31-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Freedom's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savannah Price, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Price has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Angel Akinyemi was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Osbourn Park posted their biggest win since December 19, 2023 on Monday. They beat Battlefield by the very same score they won with last week: 66-25. Given Osbourn Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Battlefield is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Osbourn Park, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.
Freedom suffered a grim 64-38 defeat to Osbourn Park in their previous meeting back in January of 2017. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Freedom was down 39-19.
