The Belen Eagles will be playing at home against the Piedra Vista Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Belen's 11-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They took down Miyamura 28-14.
Belen can attribute much of their success to Derian Rodriguez, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 72 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Rodriguez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another player making a difference was Logan Gonzalez, who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Piedra Vista put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Highland, posting a 52-18 win at home. 52 seems to be a good number for Piedra Vista as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Belen's victory bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Piedra Vista, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Belen took a serious blow against Piedra Vista in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 50-0. Will Belen have more luck at home instead of on the road?
