Milford just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face Tabiona at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Milford managed to keep up with Altamont until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Tigers had to suffer through a 69-41 loss at the hands of the Longhorns. The Tigers were down 50-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Milford got top-tier performance from Jexton Ashworth, who shot 58% from the field en route to 23 points. Boston Sullivan was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.
Meanwhile, Tabiona didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Monticello last Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Buckaroo: they've now won four in a row.
Milford better focus on containing Rocky Rhoades and Jaxon Olson as the pair were huge in Tabiona's win. Rhoades went 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points, while Olson shot 45% from the field on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Rhoades' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Cayse Thomas, who posted eight points and seven boards.
Tabiona now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Milford, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Milford has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Tabiona struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Milford came out on top in a nail-biter against Tabiona in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 53-51. Will Milford repeat their success, or does Tabiona has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
