The Milpitas Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Los Gatos Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gunn hit Milpitas with a five-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans fell just short of the Titans by a score of 7-6. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
April Price made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahana Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos entered their tilt with Gunn on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Titans.
Danica DeSantis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grace Tucker was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Olivia Sickels was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Los Gatos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Milpitas' defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Los Gatos, their record now sits at 15-7-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Milpitas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Los Gatos struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Milpitas came up short against Los Gatos in their previous meeting on Monday, falling 8-3. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
