The Holy Name Green Wave will take on the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Holy Name had just enough and edged out Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 4-2.
Russell Masetta looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ismael Sostre, Jr., who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin entered their tilt with Athens on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout.
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin also got a great performance from Jack Montague as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Montague has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Frankie Clark was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden McCord, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Holy Name's win bumped their record up to 5-6-1. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Holy Name beat Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2017. Will the Green Wave repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
