West Side and Rose Bud are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Eagles will take on the Ramblers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Side is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
West Side is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Quitman on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to the Bulldogs. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
West Side saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Hipp, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Hipp is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Rose Bud entered their tilt with Des Arc on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Eagles 10-3. Considering the Ramblers have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tanner Bell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Jay Bell was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Coleby Compton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
West Side's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Rose Bud, their record now sits at 13-8-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Side hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Rose Bud struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Side got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Rose Bud by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
