Mount Notre Dame are taking a road trip to square off against the Milford Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Mount Notre Dame sitting on three straight victories and Milford on four.
Mount Notre Dame's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Ursuline Academy as they made off with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for Mount Notre Dame, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Madi Jackson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kat Zielinski was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Maddie Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Milford got the win against Anderson on Friday by a conclusive 10-0. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
The result came thanks to Kristine Ruehl's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Paige Kinkaid, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Parks, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Milford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Mount Notre Dame's record now sits at 8-3. As for Milford, their record is now 7-2.
Sunday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mount Notre Dame hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
