Marshall's three-game streak of losses has finally come to an end. They dodged a bullet on Friday, finishing off Kirksville 27-26. Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.
Marshall found their leader in underclassman sophomore Ben Haug, who passed for 321 yards and 1 touchdown. Senior Jaylen Varner also helped out with an impressive 153 receiving yards in the win.
The victory bumped Marshall's record up to 3-6. The defeat dropped Kirksville's record to 4-5.
Both teams will be heading out of the conference in their next games. Next week Marshall will take on Kearney at 7:00 PM. Marshall will be strutting in after a win while Kearney will be stumbling in from a loss. As for Kirksville, they will go up against Smithville. Smithville are cruising in on a three-game winning streak.
