Softball Recap: Bingham Takes Down Pleasant Grove in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Bingham rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Pleasant Grove Vikings as they made off with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Miners have won 13 matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra Hintze looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gracelyn Lemke, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Shyann Banasky was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Bingham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Grove only posted an OBP of .208.

The win was the sixth in a row for Bingham, bringing their record up to 20-8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 23-7 record.

Looking ahead, Bingham will square off against Mountain Ridge at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Miners 2.7, the Sentinels 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Pleasant Grove, they will face off against Westlake at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season.
