The Newman Central Catholic Comets will venture away from home to challenge the St. Bede Bruins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

They fell just short of Sterling by a score of 9-8. The Comets have struggled against the Golden Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Brenleigh Cook and Amiya Rodriguez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cook went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI, while Rodriguez scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave Cook a new career-high. Lucy Oetting was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Bede got the win against Dwight on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-1. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Macy Kelly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Slingsby, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
St. Bede always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dwight only posted an OBP of .417.
Newman Central Catholic skirted past St. Bede 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newman Central Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
