After both having extra time off, the Seton Catholic Cougars and the Kalama Chinooks will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seton Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.5 runs per game this season.
Seton Catholic's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over Stevenson. The Cougars have beaten the Bulldogs the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Zola Stephens and Jocelyn Kender made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Stephens tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Kender tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Stephens posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Stephens scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Kender fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Stephens also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Seton Catholic got a massive performance out of Kingsley Williams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Williams a new career-high. Kylie McMaster was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Seton Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Kalama suffered their biggest loss since May 8, 2024 last Friday. They lost 19-3 to Rochester. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Chinooks' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.
Kalama saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelynne Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.
Seton Catholic's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Kalama, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
Kalama's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Seton Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 14.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Kalama, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Seton Catholic's sizable advantage in that area, the Chinooks will need to find a way to close that gap.
