Meridian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Middleton Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meridian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Middleton is ranked ninth).
Last Monday, Meridian came up short against Centennial and fell 45-37.
Meanwhile, Middleton entered their tilt with Kuna with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. Middleton breezed by Kuna on the road to the tune of 57-28. Middleton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.
Zoey Blackwell and Olivia Blackwell were among the main playmakers for Middleton as the former scored nine points along with five steals and the latter scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blackwell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Robynn Flowers, who scored five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Middleton, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Meridian came up short against Middleton when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 50-40. Can Meridian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
