Clovis (Calif.) and
Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.) both tightened up defensively, but Clovis managed to score enough to pull out the 14-0 victory.
The Cougars scored on two rushing touchdowns to pull out the win.
The lead that Clovis took on a touchdown run by
C.J. Broussard with 10:00 left in the second quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
With the win CHS extended its winning streak to six games. The Cougars defeated the Grizzlies 15-12 last week.
Marlon Watkins stood out for Clovis in the win. The junior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
CHS had given up an average of 11.6 points prior to the contest. The Bears' zero points were well below their season average of 24.4 per game.
A 35-0 Clovis victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Buchanan defeated Clovis West 20-16 last week.
In a Tri-River game next week Buchanan (3-5) takes on Clovis East, and Clovis (7-1) will go up against Clovis North also in a Tri-River game.
