Crossroads recap November 5, 2013
Sherwood's Brett Nigh rumbled for the longest rushing play in Crossroads this season in his game against St. Paul Lutheran last week. Nigh ran for 74 yards on the play and finished with 234 on the day as his team topped the Saints.
Sherwood and St. Paul Lutheran played the closest game in the league this week, with Sherwood eventually emerging with a 34-28 victory. Nigh ran for 234 yards in the win.
Nigh was a beast in the backfield as Jim Gurney's team bested Larry Laubenstein's team.
Nigh provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Marksmen beat the Saints.
Anthony Winningham put up the best numbers in passing as Van Horn fell to Excelsior Springs. He finished with 9 completions for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns. Winningham's favorite target this week was Kylan Alexander, who caught 7 passes for 107 yards.
Van Horn's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Winningham has thrown for 1,055 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Alexander has 35 catches for 501 yards.
Butler lost to Sarcoxie 41-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kaleb Kauffaman was a bright spot for the Bears, as he threw for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 16 yards in the loss.
