The Denver East Angels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denver South. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Denver East has scored all season.
Denver East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ehud Tesfoye, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Maurice Fulcher was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
It was another big night for Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four steals for Denver South. Rhoades-Martinez hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Christian Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Denver East's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Denver South, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Denver East will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Westminster at 7:00 p.m. Westminster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Denver East is ranked 74th). As for Denver South, they will head out on the road to face off against George Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. George Washington is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
