Even though the Tyrone Golden Eagles scored an imposing 68 points on Wednesday, the Central Mountain Wildcats still came out on top. Central Mountain managed a 74-68 victory over Tyrone. Given Central Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Tyrone is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brady Myers led the charge by scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Hunter Hoy, who scored 16 points along with six assists.
The victory for Central Mountain keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Tyrone, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Central Mountain will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Mifflin County at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tyrone will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
