The Berry Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Lamar and snuck past 51-49. The victory was just what Berry needed coming off of a 53-15 loss in their prior match.
Maggie Mauldin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Berry's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Rice, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Berry's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12. As for South Lamar, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berry won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oak Grove at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Oak Grove is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. South Lamar won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pickens County at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Pickens County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
