The Suncoast Chargers will take on the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at TBD on Monday. Suncoast is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Last Wednesday, Suncoast was fully in charge, breezing past the Wildcats 59-15 on the road. Given Suncoast's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Suncoast got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keyanna Goss out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Goss has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trejor Street, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Dr. Joaquin Garcia's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Forest Hill on the road and fell 42-15. Dr. Joaquin Garcia was down 36-11 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Suncoast is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Everything came up roses for Suncoast against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 59-13 victory. With Suncoast ahead 41-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.
