The Newtown Nighthawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Haven Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newtown will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Newtown put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 victory over Weston at home. Newtown's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Jayden Cordova was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 169 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes. The team also got some help courtesy of J.j. Haddick, who gained 62 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, West Haven faced North Haven in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Haven took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Haven on Thursday. West Haven's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Although West Haven took the loss, they still got scores from Armani Reid and Camren Kemp.
Newtown's win lifted them to 6-0 while West Haven's loss dropped them down to 5-1.
Newtown was able to grind out a solid win over West Haven in their previous matchup back in September of 2019, winning 21-14. Will Newtown repeat their success, or does West Haven have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
