Bethany is 0-9 against Clover Garden School since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Bethany Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Clover Garden School Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Bethany will be strutting in after a victory while Clover Garden School will be coming in after a defeat.
After only 21 points in their last game, Bethany made sure to put some points up on the board against Phoenix Academy last Tuesday. Bethany blew past Phoenix Academy 57-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Bethany has posted since December 5, 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bethany to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haley Ricketts, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Ricketts hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Braelyn Pennix was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.
Clover Garden School suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a tough 64-38 loss at the hands of Chatham Charter. While losing is never fun, Clover Garden School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Chatham Charter is ranked 125th).
Clover Garden School's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Arissa Duff, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Makayla Quimby who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Quimby posted two or more blocks.
Clover Garden School struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chatham Charter posted 14 assists.
Bethany's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Clover Garden School, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bethany have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 19.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Clover Garden School, though, as they've been averaging only 25.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bethany lost to Clover Garden School on the road by a decisive 47-31 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Bethany avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
