The Mountain View Toros will head out to challenge the Casteel Colts on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Mountain View is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Hamilton 8-7.
Mitchell Lamoreaux looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Beckham Barney and Brady Goodman did most of the damage at the plate: Barney went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Goodman went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Goodman has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kooper Klein, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Casteel faced Millennium in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Colts blew past the Tigers 9-0. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Cayden Hokanson, who gave up just two hits to keep Millennium off the board. Hokanson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Casteel let Connor Russell and Baylor Denny run wild. Russell went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Denny went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Armenta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Casteel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Casteel pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their record is now 19-11.
