The Mildred Eagles lost against the Rice Bulldogs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mildred received a tough blow as they fell 55-39 to Rice. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mildred in their matchups with Rice: they've now lost four in a row.
Saniya Burks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rice, dropping a double-double on 43 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Burks has scored at least a third of Rice's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Nezar, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Mildred's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Rice, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Mildred will head out on the road to challenge Palmer at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Rice, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Malakoff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
