After both having extra time off, the Payson Longhorns and the Tolleson Wolverines will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 12:00 p.m. on December 29th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Payson has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were just a bucket shy of victory two weeks ago and fell 52-51 to Eastmark.
Despite the loss, Payson got a solid performance out of Hannah Sarnowski, who scored 16 points along with six assists. That's the first time this season that Sarnowski scored 15 or more points. Chloe Hancock was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Tolleson was the victim of a tough 61-38 loss at the hands of Chandler on December 14th. While losing is never fun, Tolleson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Chandler is ranked 44th).
Payson's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Tolleson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1.
