Basketball Recap: Drew Charter Triumphs

Drew Charter's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They escaped with a win against the Miller Grove Wolverines by the margin of a single free throw, 45-44. This was a revenge game for Drew Charter: when they faced off against Miller Grove back in January, they had to take a 48-29 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Drew Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eniyah Cook, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jade Chivers, who scored ten points.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Arieyona Christion, who had seven points along with ten steals and seven boards. Christion is becoming a predictor of Miller Grove's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 7-1 (and 4-6 when she doesn't). Kaeslyn Benjamin was another key player, putting up 16 points and five steals.

Drew Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Miller Grove, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

Drew Charter has already played their next contest, a 29-28 win against South Atlanta on the 6th. As for Miller Grove, they will face off against Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Miller Grove surely won't give up without a fight.
