The Warren Warriors will square off against the Meigs Marauders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Friday, Warren came up short against Eastern and fell 9-6.
Kyla Williams put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Marina Johnson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Emma Lang was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Meigs entered their game against Athens on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Marauders lost 13-3 to the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Marauders have suffered since March 26th.
Shelby Yost was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Warren has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Meigs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Warren hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Meigs struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Warren couldn't quite get it done against Meigs in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
