The Clinton Central Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the North Vermillion Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton Central is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Clinton Central had to suffer through a rough 82-47 loss at the hands of Tri-Central. While losing is never fun, Clinton Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Tri-Central is ranked 139th).
Despite their defeat, Clinton Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Luke Davison, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Lane Davis, who scored 13 points.
Clinton Central struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for North Vermillion at home against South Newton on Wednesday as the team secured a 66-38 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win North Vermillion has managed all season.
Clinton Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for North Vermillion, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Clinton Central won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2022, slipping by North Vermillion 38-37. Will Clinton Central repeat their success, or does North Vermillion have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
