The Central Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Clovis North Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Central comes in on three and Clovis North on nine.
Central gave up the first points last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 27-15 victory over Clovis West.
David Marquez was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns. Jamari Carter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Clovis North stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They put the hurt on Buchanan with a sharp 28-3 win. Given Clovis North's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Buchanan is ranked 147th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson Cinfel was his usual excellent self, rushing for 137 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckay Madsen, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Central to 7-2 and Clovis North to 9-0.
Central came up short against Clovis North when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 35-28. Can Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
