It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Bell Bulldogs can now relate to. They were dealt a 78-16 loss at the hands of the Hornets on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Bell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Hawthorne is ranked 72nd).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bell struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for De' Mya Adams, who scored 27 points along with five steals for Hawthorne. Adams has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Jhalea Jackson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and seven assists.
Bell's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Hawthorne, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.
Bell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hawthorne, they will face off against Newberry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Newberry is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
