The Thornton Trojans lost against the Adams City Eagles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Thornton fell to Adams City 57-52.
Despite the loss, Thornton still got an impressive performance from Adrianna Villalpando, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Villalpando has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julionna Sandoval, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Adams City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Hernandez, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Hernandez scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Thornton's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Adams City, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
Thornton will head out on the road to face off against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Gateway comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Adams City, they will be playing at home against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
